The Teske Secondary School (former Fritz-Haber-School)We are a 'Realschule', i.e. a practically oriented secondary school in Schoeneberg, a relatively central district of Berlin. We're not far away from the famous town hall from whose balcony J.F. Kennedy once said, "Ich bin ein Berliner." Our students are between 12 and 16 years old and in their 7th to 10th school year. We are a small school with about 400 students. School begins at 8 o'clock in the morning and usually ends around 1.30 p.m. After that we can choose between several voluntary courses. The foreign languages we learn are English (obligatory) and French. We leave school at the end of the 10th year with a MSA-certificate. Then we can train as bank clerk, doctor's assistant, or kindergarten teacher, to name only a few possibilities. If, however, our marks are good enough, we can go on to a sixth form college and from there to university. |
